Proposition 65

Proposition 65 – Alcohol Warning

California Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings before exposing California consumers to chemicals that the State of California has listed as causing cancer or reproductive harm. Alcoholic beverages are listed for cancer, and ethyl alcohol in alcoholic beverages is listed for reproductive toxicity.

WARNING: Drinking distilled spirits, beer, coolers, wine and other alcoholic beverages may increase cancer risk, and, during pregnancy, can cause birth defects. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov/alcohol.

Online Alcohol Purchases in California

Proposition 65 applies to products sold to California consumers over the internet. When a Proposition 65 warning is required for an online purchase, it must be provided to the purchaser before the purchase is completed. For alcoholic beverages sold or distributed through package delivery, California regulations also require a warning to be provided to the purchaser or delivery recipient prior to or at the time of delivery, such as on or in the delivery package or as part of an electronic receipt or confirmation.

Federal U.S. Alcohol Health Warning

Proposition 65 is a California law. Separately, federal law requires alcohol beverage containers sold or distributed in the United States with at least 0.5% alcohol by volume to carry the following government health warning:

GOVERNMENT WARNING: (1) According to the Surgeon General, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects. (2) Consumption of alcoholic beverages impairs your ability to drive a car or operate machinery, and may cause health problems.

Age and Responsible Service

Alcohol may only be sold to customers who meet the legal drinking-age requirements that apply to the transaction and delivery location. Age verification and delivery restrictions may apply.

Please drink responsibly.
